Social Procurement in Action
Ability Works Australia has packed, assembled and distributed approximately, 90,000 testing kits since myDNA became a customer in 2017.
Opening its Australian headquarters in 2008, myDNA origins were in medication testing, which via DNA testing, helps identify which medications are likely to be suited to an individual. The myDNA testing helps doctors and pharmacists get patients on to the right prescriptions and the right dosages.
Expanding its ambition to provide post DNA analysis for broader health and wellness products and solutions, myDNA is now a global leader with a presence in UK, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore and in 2019 – the USA.
It was important for myDNA to partner with a purpose and value led organization for the packing, assembly and online fulfilment of DNA testing kits. Choosing Ability Works Australia was a very deliberate decision and we couldn’t be happier’ said Chief Operations Officer Nathan Brown.
‘Ability Works creates a difference in society by employing people with a disability and those socially excluded. At the core of myDNA lies the intent to make a positive difference to the health and wellbeing of people. We have aligned values. We find AWA responsive and able to pivot and change and grow with us. We like that. We need that.’
In the five years to 2017, 4 million DNA tests were conducted worldwide. In the past year, that has doubled to 8 million and we are leading the way. We not only provide the personal test and the results, we also provide the ‘so what’ and actionable outcomes and product for diet, nutrition, exercise and vitamins.
Consumers can now access our products online or via more than 2,000 pharmacies worldwide and more and more corporates are working with us as part of their health and wellbeing programs to attract caliber talent’.
